Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women and the second leading cause of their cancer deaths. The American Cancer Society estimates that over 325,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2020.
While devastating in number, researchers have noticed a positive trend: Between 2013 and 2017, breast cancer death rates in women over age 50 have decreased by 1.3% per year. The reason? Increased awareness, screenings, and early detection.
