Perfect Pout

Options for spring makeup are as diverse as the women who wear them. Fashion runways continue to hype very bold makeup choices. Though these looks are created for high impact on the runway, they trickle down and inform the overall feel for the season.

#1 The New Nudes

Gone are the frigid grey-beiges, matte earth shades and flat taupe. The new nudes utilize subtle lavenders, corals, and plums. These shades are available in mattes and glosses across the board from every cosmetic company. Yellow/gold skin tones will look best in the warmer hues, and paler, pinkish skin tones will favor cooler shades.

#2 Bold Red Lips

This trend is going nowhere. For the last three seasons it marched triumphantly down the runways at Badgley Mischka, Temperley London and Naeem Khan. The reds are brighter and less matte than we saw in the fall. Although not appropriate for everybody, the hottest trend is an intense orangey crimson.

#3 Ombre

This is a fun way to wear a pop of color. For an everyday look, apply a clear gloss over the entire lip.  Then take your favorite bright pastel shade and apply in a heart shape in the middle of your lips. The point of the heart should be in the middle of your lower lip at the fullest point of your pout. The circles of the top of the heart should be in the cupid’s bow of your upper lip. Blot the lips together to blend for the perfect ombre lip.
