For many of us who live in the Midwest, the presence of a good sunny day can make all the difference in the world, especially during those winter months when the sun goes on vacation. In recent years, the art of spray tanning as well as self-tanners have helped replace extended exposure to the sun.

The condition that is often aligned with sun and sun exposure is skin cancer. Skin cancer — the abnormal growth of skin cells — most often develops on skin exposed to the sun. But this common form of cancer can also occur on areas of the skin not ordinarily exposed to sunlight.
