How did your company get started and how has it evolved?
My weight was out of control even though, as a physician, I had all of the information I needed to make a change. I felt shame and humiliation at being overweight while I was also trying to encourage my patients to live a healthy lifestyle. I had no energy and struggled with mobility, and I avoided airplane travel and amusement parks for fear of not fitting in the seats.
I was also worried about my own health because my dad died at age 48 of complications of obesity – diabetes and heart disease – and I was fearful I was setting a bad example for my son, who was also overweight. I knew I needed to make myself a priority because I had always put taking care of everyone else before my own needs. I had to make a choice…so I did!
Once I was able to put together multiple systems for success, I was able to quickly lose weight and keep it off. By addressing the cellular, metabolic, physical, and emotional components of weight loss, we are able to exceed the success of all other programs.

Buckeye Weight Loss is a physician-supervised weight loss program. We work with UltraSlim® noninvasive body sculpting and CRUSH emotional eating technique.

Originally owned by Dr. Homer Williams, this practice has existed for over 50 years. In 2005, the practice was renamed Downtown Dermatology. How did your company get started and how has it evolved?
As a means of helping with his medical school costs, Dr. Rakesh Nanda began aesthetics training working in various medical spas and plastic surgery centers while he was working on his medical school internship. Taking an interest in the field, he kept notes on procedures and treatments in the industry. After moving to Columbus, Dr. Nanda worked in a traditional medical field. How did your company get started?
Charles A. Penzone started out in 1969 with a $500 loan from Huntington Bank and only two employees, and our salons have been trailblazers from the very beginning. We were the first to introduce Vidal Sassoon hair cutting techniques to the Midwest, and were also the first to offer online booking in the ‘90s! In addition, our three Grand Salon concepts won top industry honors when they opened in the ‘90s.
In April 2019, we celebrated the company’s 50th anniversary and almost a year operating under our new concept, PENZONE Salons + Spas.
