This season’s hair trends have a little something for everyone to add to their unique style. Styles go from day to night in a couple of easy steps, and with just a few changes, looks can be transformed. If you are looking for a permanent change or just something new for the day, give one of these hot hair trends a try this season.

BalayageBalayage has really become a popular color treatment in recent years. It is a timeless technique that can easily transform a look. Balayage creates a totally tailored, personalized color finish. Healthy, natural-looking hair will always be in, which is why the technique has remained popular for so many years. “Depending on what you are looking for, the finish can be subtle or quite bold,” says McKenzie Cullum, master stylist at Jacob Neal Salon. “It’s the ability to completely tailor the color effect that makes this such a popular choice.”

A-cutA cut that never seems to go out of style is the lob. The lob is a fun way to describe a long bob, and it is here to stay. “We are seeing clients coming in asking for shorter styles, and we are doing a lot more interior sliding and sculpting to remove weight, but it keeps the cut blunt and feathery,” says Brit Beswick, premier artist at J.Bentley Hair Studio and Day Spa. This style still allows for some fun tricks to dress it up in 5 minutes or less. “The bobby pin is still a girl’s best friend. Section off part of your hair, twist and pin, and you’ve got yourself a professional looking style with little effort,” adds Tyra Benner, owner of J.Bentley Hair Studio and Day Spa.

Longer-styleLonger styles always have so much flexibility. This season’s trends confirm it. Sleek, straight hair looks effortless. The key to this look is to keep it healthy. “Be sure to have dead ends trimmed off regularly,” says Jordan Fisher, senior director at Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Gahanna/New Albany. This style is so versatile that it can go from day to night. A quick change to the sleek look for long hair is power curls. Loose, natural waves are ideal for daytime, while fluffy, glamorous curls are a head turner and perfect for holiday parties. “Both can be transformed into an elegant long ponytail or side braid for an on-the-go look or for a formal affair,” adds Jordan.

TextureTexture, texture, texture. That seems to be one of the biggest trends this season, and it can work with most hair styles. “Adding the most dimension you can with color, cut and styling is what clients are looking for,” says Maggie Mescher, designer at Stile Salon & Spa. Whether you are adding chunking pieces of color, layering a cut or using a flat iron or curling iron to produce volume and loads of texture – styles are big, bold and beautiful this season.

Changing your hair can transform your look. The fun thing about hair is that you can always change it to keep up with the trends, and even quick changes can give you a personal transformation, even if it’s just for an evening. So, take on this holiday season with a bold new look!
